what are you asking for?
a business and a hobby is sort of mutually exclusive. One you do for profit. One you do purely out of your own interest.

Do read up and brush up the basics first and work towards that.

Regarding your statement 'Lately, more and more friends are into SLR esp Canon' I guess it just show that it's a popular brand. There are many pros who use Nikon, Sony, Pentax & Olympus too.
