New 400D with 2nd Hand Lens?

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting a Canon 400D(New) with a 2nd hand lens. How much would the set back be? I kinna have a budget of about say not more then S$1.1k?

Going on a trip next month so in a hurry to buy and try.
What type of lenses to buy for genral photography?
Kit lens a good buy for 2nd hand?
BnS here a better bargain?
Any shop that would have New Body with 2nd hand lenses?

I heard from my fren that there are forum somewhere selling Canon 400D + Grip + Kit lens ect @ S$800(can bargain somemore!!) WOW!! do any of you guys know where? I'm kinna new to this tho...Please advice. Thanks

For S$1100, you can get a brand new EOS 400D body $1050 and spend $50 on a used EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens.

u are better off buying a brand new body with kit lens at 1.2k from some of the shops.

TS do you have 1.1k for lens or 1.1k for old lens + new body.

1.1k is not alot. you'll be lucky if you can pull off a new body with a kit lens.

if you are looking for second-hand lens to go with your 400D,
i have a Tamron 28-200mm which you may want to consider to go with your kits lens.
selling <$200. it was my travel lens.

Do you know or can you recommend a place where I can go?
I understand from Canon site prices are $1349+CF2GB+Guide+Mag+EF Lens & Acc.
Should i wait till 6 March IT Show, would i get a better offer there?
My Trip is End March anyway?

Don't bother about IT Show offers for dSLRs, their prices won't match shops like John 3:16, Cathay Photo and all. Cause usually its Canon themselves which will be at the IT show. At most they lower their RRP by a little and throw in more freebies.

I sent an e-mail to Alan Photo, asking them for the price of their 400D kit. As of last week, the price that hey quoted for me was S$1,155.

Either get a 400D with 17-50 2.8 tamron or get the 400D with 18-55 IS 3.5-5.6. dont get the kit 1 lens that comes with 400d.

you can try John3:16 at funan 5 level.
