neoprene camera & lens pouch

may i know if neoprene camera & lens pouch offers some protection against shock?

i'm sure a camera bag is a better option, but sometimes, you are all dressed up & not wanting to carry a camera bag along.

i am also looking for an answer for this issue

would like to get a soft pouch so that it can be placed in any bag that i using... but not sure how protective it is.
