need to resize photos when transferring to iphone or ipod?

is there a need for me to resize the photos when i download it to ipod or iphone?
will it automatically do the resizing to save space?

no, not that smart yet, i think, though i stress here that i am not a ipod or iphone user

another good point why you might want to resize it is that - if you do not the pictures might look "compressed"

i have that problem with my vosonic, it is fine when you zoom in
