hi , just wanted to ask what lens should i get for shooting outdoors? landscape

Landscape many people love a wider focal length for the expanse that you can capture. Some people like me loves a telephoto perspective as well where applicable.

For outdoors it can be variable. Depends on what are the focal lengths you typically shoot. With your existing setup what else are you lacking that you are looking at ?

depends how much you want to spend. 10-22mm is pretty good for uwa shots.

your kit lens should suffice.

hi tobylai, if you asking about from your existing lens... personaly i'll say 18-55mm.
but really very much depend on what do you like to shoot though, just like what Ryan said...

I own 400D too, I've plan to get the super wide 10-22mm on this Christmas = )

Canon 50mm 1.8f
super cheap lens with high quality. only 100+,
I just bought it last month, i should own it earlier...

hmm, thanks for everyone advice . um , how about if i wanna take a portrait shot , what lens should i get ?

u dun need specialised lens to take specialised shots in most instance, unless you are a specialists.

the tele end of your 18-55 or shorter end of your 55-250 should be quite ideal for "normal" potraits.

It's used to take pictures.

Maybe you can be more specific with your question on the 70-200MM? It almost the same as what your 55-250MM IS tele lens does. More "zoom zoom"

I think you should try shooting more with your current lenses and feel for yourself what you need. You already have a 55-250 which is a pretty good lens, dun see why you need the 70-200, unless you meant the f2.8 if you really need the speed and/or the bokeh.

yea alright haha , because i am still like very noob to this although have lessons in school but yea will try to improve more . Thanks for everyone advice . shall shoot more then hehe ..

alright one more question , thinking of getting a speedlight , which model do you all suggest ? 430ex ?

tink u postphone your speedlight first.

flash photography can be a topic on its own, and can be very complicated.

i'd suggest u focus on using your existing setup, camera + 1 lens, on Natural Light photography first.

dun overburden yourself when starting out.

get all the bare fundamentals right first, shutter, aperture, ISO, composition, exposure, camera handling... ...
