Need help removing malware!!

Hi guys, need urgent help here....my computer has been infected with some malware, that causes NAV to pop-up messages saying that "wininet.dll" has been infected.

At the same time, it also says that my computer has been infected with "Bloodhound.W32.EP"

My desktop has been hijacked, and there's a icon at the toolbar that occasionally pop-ups messages that I need to click to a webpage to 'fix' it.

Running Windows 2000 with SP4.

Can anyone help me with the removal??

for a clean sweep:

reformat HDD

then instal XP with Sp2

then install other antiV software

Err...the computer is used by my brother, and I don't know whether he has any data that he needs to backup or not.

Besides, don't have Win XP also...haha

Isn't there any way to remove the malware without such drastic measures?

As for the popup, try Spybot-Search and Destroy to see it can remove it.

u can try downloading adware ps. to start if doesnt work.there are instruction on windows website on how to take out and prevent this kind of incident.goodluck:dunno:

i find it better and simpler than NAV because there are times when NAV was unable to detect those silly things that this antiV software can detect..lol but its up to your preference

u can ask him to dump all his files into one folder and transfer that folder onto external HDD

winXP installer software can be bought, Sp2 can be downloaded legally at MS web page

but anyway i have both stored nicely in a single folder in my backup thumbdrive and external HDD

Try http://housecall60.trendmicro.com/en/start_corp.asp?id=scan . I used it when my son's PC was infested with those popup spywares. It was so irritating and even Ad-ware and spybot cant cure/remove it.

The online trendmicro scans and removes it once and for all. Very effective I must say. I was so impressed that I bought a copy for son's PC. Its good and I recommend it!

This is really good one, not much bell and dingdong but catches the most virus. I have installed many AV co-exist including many popular AV and this one always found something that the rest does not.
