Newbie here, trying to pick up some photography :D

So I just got myself an Olympus OM1, and I'm in need of a battery. From what I read, nobody sells the original mercury battery, and supposedly PX625 is a compatible replacement.

Anybody can tell me where I can buy PX625 battery? I read from the old thread, a store in the basement of SL Tower sells it? Is it still there? Confirmation anyone?

Not too sure where to find the battery, but you don't need the battery for taking photos with an OM1. The battery is only for the exposure metering.

Yeah... however, I do think I need to have the metering since I'm new to photography, and I would be good to have the exposure meter :D

Have you checked with the Oly S'pore Support?

Alternatively, you can get the MR-9 adapter from "The Small Battery Company". Check out their web page for more information. http://www.smallbattery.company.org...ww.smallbattery.company.org.uk/sbc_s625px.htm

Anyway, a better place to put this thread will be in the Olympus folder. I'm sure you can find lots more help there.

By the way, can let me know if you find the battery? I also got an OM1 also. Have not used it in years, but who knows, might take it out one day and shoot a couple of rolls. :sweatsm:

A quick googling gave the following:

...which leads to this link about the zinc-air type.

A DIY solution using zinc-air batteries:

...or a more professional type of DIY in a detailed pdf document

...or this one...

...and this one.

It seems that it is not that difficult to solve the problem. Why ask here without doing a serarch on your own?
