you only can use SB28 in manual mode(AA mode), meaning setting Zoom distance and aperture.

The best is to get SB600/800/900.
However there are alternatives like Metz 48/58AF-1 for nikon or the Nissin Di622 is you are really going on budget.

The SB28 does non-TTL and manual flash. See if you are ok with that.

Else of course with a bit more money u can get something more compatible.

why don't you use your SB28 on A mode and see if it is ok, then make a decision

A mode works fine for me.

But you might want to consider selling it off and topping up abt $100 for SB600
