Going to get a compact digicam for my wife. Too many choice now a day, don't know which to get. Any recommendation on Canon, Nikon & Panasonic ? Budget below $700. Prefer those support CF so can use my Ultra2 1GB CF card.

Hi, this subforum is for film compacts& rangefinders. Maybe u can look under General, Reviews & Tech talk or under the respective brands' subforums. There have been quite a number of threads asking for recommendations of compact digicams :)

how compact is compact? i think the Fuji F11 is pretty compact...but certainly not one of those sub-compact cameras. the F11 rawks for one simple fact above all others...it's the best low-light digital camera that is not an SLR. useable ISO1600 on a compact digital? yes please!!!!!

I second the Ixus 55. The Fuji F11 is a great camera, but it's a brick.

Ixus 55:thumbsup:
I hardly use it as it belongs to my gf.
Tried it today at work place and the shots were great.
Sits in my shirt front pocket so comfortably...
