Hi im looking for a telezoom lens (canon mount) btwn the 55-300mm range. Kinda tight on budget so im trying to find something below $500 ($300 if possible).

Currently considering:
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS
Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM
Sigma 70-300mm APO f4-5.6

Will the f4 be a huge problem with sharpness? Can oso recommend any good budget lenses?

I think for your budget, 55-250mm is obvious choice. It comes with IS which will be very helpful in low light conditions.

If you are looking for telezoom lens but at $300, you can try the B&S section. If you want a new set, then you have to forgo nice features, like IS and USM, and go for the simplest one like EF 75-300mm F4-5.6 III.

For 55-250, at F4 sharpness is ok, but you may encounter serious vignetting. My experience is that most lenses are sharpest at around F8-11.

I had use both Canon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III USM, Sigma 70-300mm APO f4-5.6 before. If you want my opinion, Canon EF 75-300mm will be a good choice with better picture quality. For 2nd hand in Buy/Sell section you might be able to get it around $150-$220.

Go for the 55-250IS. Shoot at F8 if possible, it's quite sharp from there onwards. And the IS really help alot.

Go get the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS.
If not going to FF cam soon.
Got IS can hand held most of the time no need to hang around a tripod.
If can save abit more for a 2nd hand EF 70-200 F/4 L about $700+...Happy buying...;)
