Hi CSers!

I have recently been arrowed to cover the ROM ceremony for a cousin of mine.
Seems like cost is a factor and hence, they will prefer someone who's FOC.

Anyway, the problem is, even though I know that their expectations are not high, I do not want the pictures to turn out bad as well...

As I am just a 'normal' photographer, my kit is pretty limited. :embrass: :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Question is, what can I do with this kit of mine? What should I look out for during the solemnization and maybe outdoor shots later?

my kit:
=====
- minolta dynax 505si super
- 28-80mm + 75-300mm

Thanks!

I can't help on your technique part because i *luckily* haven been arrowed before. ;p

Equipment wise, i believe its recommended you have a external flash. It can be used for bounce flash, which i think is very useful.

regards and good luck!

I second that ... get a external flash and use ur camera + 28-80mm to cover the whole event ...

for indoor photography , try ISO 400 film , bounce flash technique ..

I covered ROM before. Just shoot n shoot n shoot. Use speedlite and wide angle lens

thanks jeff49er! but as you can see from my post, I am very limited in 'hardware'...
well, you can try to borrow one from a friendly helpful trusting CSer here... give it a shot, post a request, you might be surprised. ;)

errrr ... you can
- borrow
- buy
- DIY yourself
- rob (not advisable)
- steal (not advisable)

i think it would be good if you can use the borrowed flash and go for a practice shoot, get use to the new attachment. :)

I second that too

try to test the exposure with different setup .... and also composition too

:bsmilie: :bsmilie: I wonder if my son's pampers can do the job... :bsmilie:

For a quick job, spread and tie a white hankerchef over the flash head ;)

bounce card is a must does magic with reducing harsh flashes.... through wedding shoots i attach my bounce then no need to bother to keep thiking about exposure and stuff just focus and wat to shoot and how to shoot, becuase you gotta be 1 step ahead of the couple any anyone else. oR else miss shot wasted :)

just a little advise from mi.

ok guys,

I have got my flash... a simple Suntax 928AF...will this suffice? :dunno:

a few questions still linger:
1. Do I bounce flash off ceiling throughout the ROM ceremony?
2. What angle should I bounce the flash?
3. If I have no diffuser, OMNIBounce, etc, is it compulsory to at least use a hankerchief/tissue to diffuse the flash?
4. thinking of using 'A' priority throughout... is it recommended?
5. oh yeah... this flash unit does not have swivel so, what should I look out for when shooting portrait mode? Direct flash no tilt?

thanks!

sorry for being a pain in the #$%#!!
