The whites are AT-AT drivers, while the blacks are the tie-fighter, tie-interceptor, tie-bomber, etc etc.

Yup. Its an Imperial Driver. They drive Juggernauts as well. The main difference between an Imperial Pilot and an Imperial Driver other than the colour is the lack of the two pipes that are joint to the front of the Imperial Pilot's helmet.
