Today, one of my girlfriend feedback to me regarding this 2nd edition of the Miss/Mrs LFI pageant. She has been contacted by Eric, a 23 year old Male claiming to be from the LFI wellness center. Excerpts from the messages Eric sent to her:

i tell u y it worth it... this event will b big and there r celebrities attending the event too....
i personnally think that you are so pretty that u will definitely win in at least 1 category ...with the bust serum or the makeover package u will tone up your body perfectly ...u got 80% chance of getting a prize, u get lots of exposure and attention from this event and you can tell your friends that you have joined a pageant and there is actually a way for you to earn lots of money :D so come on ! dun wait le wor :D i find u very very very attractive n in fact so confident that u will win at least the 2nd runner up !! last year there was a lady that was 157cm tall and she also become 1 of the top ... n honestly speaking i think u are more pretty and "you mei li" lor u consider about it ba ...it is very worth it .. u gain a better figure and u likely to win more cash than wat u paid :D the bust serum u can share w friends too n pay by 12 months installment w credit card . which is only $65 per month .. i really think u are a beauty queen !!

My thoughts after reading this and looking at the contest:

* They are more interested in the sale of the packages rather than the pageant itself? With points given for weight lost and bust gained, this is more like a reality show rather than a pageant contest. Let's hope the contestants are certified medically to be fit for any rapid weight lost/bust enhancement regime. The organiser must take care of the welfare of the contestants and make sure that adequate medical insurance and coverage is undertaken just in case any of the contestants fell ill due to adverse reaction as well as a rapid weight loss. Will there be any money back in case the contestants are deemed not suitable to continue the regime since they cost more than $700?

* Does the organiser wanna send out messages such as bigger the boobs, the better and the thinner you are, the better? Beauty contest is never about just having the biggest boobs and the thinnest waist. Beauty is certainly never as shallow as that. A pageant winner should be judge from not just the figure alone.

* LFI is the organiser of Miss Singapore 2008/09? If they are not the organisers, they shouldnt be promising the contestants direct entry to the prestigious pageant. Anyway, interested girls who wish to join Miss Singapore does not need to pay $700 to join the contest proper, nor is there a requirement to join Miss Singapore only through the Miss LFI contest!

What are your thoughts if you or your GFs are asked to join this pageant?

MLM is not illegal here is it?:dunno:

MLMs are legal in Singapore. I have nothing against most of them except when they dont have a product/service to sell or when they sell their product/services not in the legal framework.

For example, a herbal/health supplement currently not required to be registered (till 2010) being advertised in public sale seminars to treat any of the disease specified under the MEDICINES (ADVERTISEMENT AND SALE) (CHAPTER 177)

In layman's terms?
item cannot claim to cure any of those medical conditions in the list unless there is proven medical evidence to back up the claim... of course, this is a simplification...don't quote this post in court... :)

In 90% of the MLMs agents I've encountered are inethical. Maybe it's just my luck to meet them.

They have no pay, only by commission, this can be a good drive, also a bad drive. Like, telling half lies, misleading people, using hard persuasion, trickery to trick people down to office or seminar, etc. I've heard of "managers" actually teaching downlines to do this.

And then again, giving people, both customers and agents false hopes. They claim high earnings, but not everyone can achieve it. Depends alot on alot of factors. I've heard everything from "earn more than uni grad", "financial freedom", "retire early", etc.... Some of their products are not proven, except by their own sources. :thumbsd:

that's why i'm so surprised its legal in singapore when its illegal in the rest of the developed world...

Whoever this eric guy is, he can't even make the effort to write a decent official invitation in formal english. Lack of professionalism.

Secondly, after reading through both excerpts, I have to agree that it's more a gimmick than anything else.

The comapny which uses trickery to trick people to seminars is Enyouth, based at Carpenter St area. Their former name is Astral Mag. Very (in)famous

Hard persuasion is VE, now at some ulu place at Eunos.

Worse is Sunshine Empire, a scam company.

why bo crack down?

Sunshine empire cult under investigation by CAD. Apparently they claim they cant payout cos accounts freeze, but somehow can still accept payments?

He's the guy who claims he's better than Warren Buffett.

i know that's why i laughed my ass off when he made that claim. then again pyramid schemes always make outrageous claims don't they?

I posted this on sgforums:

A property company which

1) shifts entire buildings from one side of the city to the other
2) changes design after property been sold, shifting building around the plot
3) changes colour scheme after property been sold
4) interior rendering doesn't match exterior render (interior shows curved glass, exterior is square)
5) no showrooms
6) no building models
7) claims only selling to SE members (see point A)
8) Issues about Empire State Tower (see point B)
9) astronomical costs of developing so many properties at the same time by a newly set up property company. Extremely high risk. (see point C)

Point A:
SE claims internal selling of properties. See this. SE claims around 20, 000 plus members, so there's only a pool of 20 000 members to sell the properties too. They had already put a few thousands into SE, what makes them want to buy a property? The pool is so small, what's the percentage of members who will probably buy a unit? A unit is not cheap too. Furthermore, SE/EPV is a newly set up property company, with no history, no experience (only experience in lots of failed property project scams like Magic Kingdom).

Point B:
First, EST was shifted from Jalan Raja Chulan to Jalan Tun Razak. Shifting buildings? Second, the site at Tun Razak is just beside highway viaduct, and there's a slipway ramp on the other side of the site. Extremely bad conditions. Air pollution, noise pollution, no privacy. The design of the units are horrible, looks as if it's done in a hurry. Design, layout of the building is horrible. Colour scheme changed once, from blue to gold. Interior renders show curved glass, but the building is cubic. With such a bad site location, and the small pool of members, you think it would have sold a great majority only after a short time?

Point C:
Sunshine Villas, EST, the melaka theme park, underwater hotel in Sabah? First, land at Jln Tun Razak. Land cost? They make the tower so luxurious. Fine. Construction, cost of interior decorations? Underwater hotel? Any idea the astromical costs for such an underwater building? They are not many underwater buildings in the world. Firstly, cost of engineering. Cannot get any Tom Dick or Harry engineering company to design the hotel. Need specialists. Cost goes up. Construction, also cannot get any company to do it. Must get specialists. What if the hotel caves in or collapses? Then, water quality, view distance in water. Is it clear enough? If not you'll look at a murky sight, like a giant tank of Milo. So where are the advertisements? In engineering, architecture, business, luxury, design, travel, financial journals? If really there's an underwatr hotel, it would create a buzz around these fields. But...?

Back to costs. Developing a property needs land costs, construction costs, finishing costs (interior finishings, etc), design and engineering costs, etc. The cost of the properties and the wireless infrastructure alone could very well exceed the entire worth of the company. Bank loan? Loan to company with zero experience in property?
