It was my second attempt hunting the Aurora Borealis. And it was my first night out. While the display wasn't the strongest, nor was it those that curl into the sky, it was still a huge relief to see it, to gaze upon this wonder, and be entranced by it. So it was a particularly memorable image, so much so I wrote a little something to go along with it.
Hope you all like it, and for those who didn't see it first time round, have faith! ;)

It was cold, it was frigid, it was devoid of light.
I stood waiting, I stood watching, but nothing in sight.
I kept praying, I kept hoping, as hard as I might.
The forecasts, the weather gods, says it is tonight!

A faint smear forms, greenish light born, lighting up the sky.
Visible to eye, on the horizon sky, the lights began to fly.
It danced and pranced, it swirled and twirled, shapes writhing by.
The aurora it is, oh magical bliss, my heart began to cry!

Hours it showed, but intense it's not, a nitpick I have to say.
Rising high, with brilliant curls, my hope that it may.
But the cold bashes, the wind lashes, the body cannot stay.
Quest fulfilled, but thirst unquenched, till another day!
