Just a quick tip: most digital photos will usually benefit from a tiny amount of post-processing, especially (a) levels/curves adjustment; and (b) unsharp masking. This is to compensate for any exposure/colour balance problems and the typically soft look of straight-out-of-the-camera photos.

The second photo doesn't seem to have a clearly defined subject. Perhaps you might have been able to get a more interesting picture if you had concentrated on the two kids(?) playing at the edge of the bay.
