well been following for quite some time now.

need some advice from all.

I"m torn btw this combi.

Brand new 450D or 3mth old 40D body.

2nd hand 40D body will cost 100 or 200 more.

Whichever set i get, i'm pretty much set to get 50mm F/1.4 with a zoom lens, prolly 18-200mm or 55-300mm.

Can give me some advice? :embrass:

IMHO, if you're still learning, the 450D is good enough. The 100-200 buck savings might help you get better lenses.
If you feel what I'm saying is not correct, you should get the 40D.

450D + 18-55IS (kit1) + 55-250IS + 50mm f/1.8II + 430EXII is the most complete / economical / newb-friendly setup.

Hmm....i'm currently on 400D kit with 50mm F1.8 II.

Hence the dilemma.

why not use the money to get better lenses and stick with the current body?

cox it's not mine. buddy loan me for quite some time now

40D w 18-55 kit lens .

for general day-to-day photography, dun tink the 55-250 will be extremely useful.

of course, i am contemplating if i should buy the 55-250 since there are some good deals in the BnS forum lately.

and why the 50 1.4 instead of the 1.8?

u really need such speed?

or, do u really need a 50mm?

yes. i do take much shots in low light and lots of people, group photo. Love the bokeh of a 1.4 as well.

Or do u reckon the 1.8 does the job well too?

I've tried both, and kinda like 1.4, even after viewing on com. Maybe i'm wrong?

what would u recommend?

go to the shops and try the 450 and 50. they are a world apart...okay lah...maybe not a world but two different cameras altogether. try than you will know.

u are not wrong.

considering the 1.4 cost 3x the 1.8, it had better been better.

but u say lots of ppl, then i assume u need to stop down for DOF?

also, if shooting indoors, the 50 plus crop factor, may feel extremely restricted. perhaps, a 28/35 prime will be better.

i'd recommed u use the kit lens till u cannot "tolerate" any longer, then go out buy wat u need.

personally, still cant convince myself enough to buy the 55-250.

and i still reckon the 30/40/50D more joyful to use than 400/450D.

Thanks for all feedback.

Hope to post my pics soon
