Hi all, i'll be heading to australia to visit my brother and parents and wondering if anyone is there or will be there around that time. i'll be definitely going to sydney, brisbane probably, and anywhere else (melb, canb, adelaide) is KIV. if nothing much then i'll come back after i'm done with my family commitments (brother is having a baby) since i'll be bored there alone (most of my friends were overseas students and have come back to sg).

can pm me or post here lar!

Depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for. If you want a slow paced holiday, I suggest you stick to Brisbane and Sydney - there is heaps to do in both places alone.

If you want a whirlwind paced holiday, then you may want to add Melbourne to your list.

A side tour to Ayers Rock wouldn't be a bad idea. That in itself is already a 5-7 day trip on it's own and you'd only be skimming the surface esp if you have photography on your agenda. You can join a Camel Safari tour which can last up to 2 weeks.

When you are in Sydney - a side trip to the Snowy Mtns (5hrs away) might be nice if you have 3-5 days to spare. Nice scenery and have a good time on the ski slopes can be had. Generally, ppl learn to ski within the first 3 days (unless they are hopelessly uncoordinated).

Petrol prices are sky high (AUD1.40 per litre) now so it might be cheaper to fly domestically than drive between cities.

Do you plan to do much shooting while your there? If so then do the coastal drive between Adelaide and Melbourne, scenery is spectacular.

If you want to shoot some models or do studio work, let me know and I will send you contact details of a photog in Sydney that can supply both.

Make sure you take plenty of warm clothes, it's a very cold winter this year.

thanx for the replies guys... it's not really a holiday.. more like a holiday back home? eheh i used to live in brisbane for 12 years, my family is there... :)

oh is AUG ah .. i tot is july ;p

Bring a coat because it' will be cold in Melbourne and Canberra.

wah.. i totally forgot about this thread!!!

so ok my tix still AREN'T booked yet.. but i'm still going..

anyone over there wanna do TFCD or wat?

man i need to do something there to cure boredom!!!!! ;p

Ahh... this thread of yours reminds me of a private message you sent telling me about plans to come down under.

As closely as I have "cyber-stalked" you in this forum, I understand that your current interests lie much in portrait photography. You don't seem to do much landscape/scenery now, not like you did some years ago when you were in Sydney.

To a peer I hold in good regard, I would well-meaningly encourage you to try if possible, wherever you may be going, to do shoots with Aussies. Coupled with you having lived in QLD for 12 years, you would have vast knowledge of places. This trip to Australia will give you a short window of wonderful opportunity to shoot unique images your peers in Singapore don't easily get. The best they manage is to join group shoots with an imported Caucasian model to photograph on homeground.

If I were you, I would head north to QLD where it is warmer, and if it's not terribly cold, do a bikini or nude shoot on a beach with crystal clear waters. (I haven't been to QLD in winter so I won't know how cold it is.) I'm assuming you know that the Aussies understand a bikini shoot to be literally bikinis (no boardies and sarongs as "decoration"), and a nude shoot to be literally nude (everything on show).

Literally, you get a louder bang for your buck. Awesome, mate!

Oh man, you'll be going back and enjoy all the good food there.
Say.. why not shoot birds in the wild for a change? ;p

Me contemplating going syd + mel + tas but not in winter lah.

If you're staying within walking distance from Star City Casino, may as well make use of the time to concentrate on winning big money.

Welcome to Sydney and have a winning trip! :bsmilie:
