Hi All,

Sorry to create a new thread for the same suject....which is from below link. Because no one give me any advise or any suggestion to me..... (I keep reading the past thread replies until I 'm in a lost direction now....)

But I really need the specialist to give a helping hand on my digi-cabi 60L.

My 60L Digi-cabi just arrived Saturday. As what the Salesguy said just turn the knob to Blue zone and all will be fine.... But after I on the power, turn to center where the blue zone are and peel off the arrow sticker behind the LCD battery side and the LCD display show 83% RH 29c.

Day 1: After 6 hours passed the RH% from 85% drop to 75%....(I'm setting at 10'o'clock).
One of the Csers suggested to set it to 11 o'clock and I reset it to 11 o'clock.

Day 2: 9.30am RH drop to 69%.

Day3: 12.15am RH drop to 66%.... how come it drops so slow then I read some passed thread again and adjusted to 8pm (seem not right for about an hour the RH% keep going up, so I reset back to 11pm direction) till now the RH show as 68%. :dunno:

OMG~ When then can I put in my camera and lens? have to wait till the RH drop till 40% - 55%? Please help~ how to make the RH% stablize? take how long to do it......

ain't you put your gears in on the first day?
this is a dry cabinet, not a wet one.
definitely inside is still dryer than outside.

anyway, why don't you call Digi-cabi tomorrow and ask why take 3 days still not going down to 40% - 55%? the are the one selling you the dry cabinet, so they are the specialist.

Hi catchlights, well because I read the thread reply and ppl said take 1-3days (depends on what I'm not sure) when it RH% went down to 40% - 55% then put in the gear...
Can I put in the gear in tonight and see how's the reading tomorrow.

Tomorrow I give digi-cabi a call and check it out.

yes give then a call still warranty then no worry

Hi

I have a 30L digi cabi.. it took a night before it falls to 40% levels. Hope they will attend to your needs when you call them tomorrow. If not maybe u can try buying some dehumidifier (like thirsty hippo) and put it inside. The humidity levels will drop faster and take it out later. Check whether your power unit can maintain at that humidity levels.

My 2 cents worth.

Thanks tank0085, let see how tomorrow...but I just put my gear inside with RH 68% is it ok? I want to see what the RH% tomorrow morning......

RH outside could be anything from 85 - 99%.

Anything lower is better.

60l is a large volume.

Just crank the knob to the right all the way it will go to speed up the dyring process.

Also bear in ind that everytime you open and close the door, you let in a lot of moisture which may take another few days to dry out.

it takes me a week to fine tune to 44-48%
as i just changed a new circuit board after 3yrs

just dump all your gear in there
for a new cabinet is should be around 8pm, anticlock wise

My DHC60 took less than a day to reach to 45% RH....maybe you got a faulty unit...go check with digihub

Those who advocate that the RH should drop to a certain level like 40-50% before they put in their gears must be a cook by profession where they would only start putting in their ingredients on the frying pan only when the oil heat up to a certain level :bsmilie: I wonder do they also empty their cabinet if they open the door for too long and the RH went up above 50% and wait for the RH to reach 40-50% before they put their gear back to the cabinet again :bsmilie:

This theory does not make sense here. The RH outisde the cabinet is definately highly than 68% which u have now unless u turn on your aircon. The less empty space inside the cabinet, the faster you will reach your desired RH.

Put your gear in from the very beginning. Doesn't make sense to wait. Put the knob to the position for lowest target humidity (see manual! - for my AD-100 it's about 7 o'clock position) and monitor. It will take a while to reach that level. Your cabinet and your gear need time to dry. Once the humidity goes below 40% adjust the knob for higher target humidity, close the door and monitor for the next day. It will take a couple of days till you have found the best position for the knob. And: don't panic! 39% RH reading doesn't mean your gear crumbles to dust ;)

My 100L takes few hrs (abt 6hrs) to drop to 50%. Juz dunk ur gear in and let it do its job. Being in dry cabi is definitely better that out in the open.

place outside and wait does not make sense as what most have said....
place inside and adjust dry cabi

Gdday to you,

well u can set the knob to 12'o clock whereby u close yr digi-cabi.

it will drop veri fast ard 32%. aft that adjust the knob to 10 or 11 o'clock in order to keep it 2 40-45%.

when u c that happen, u can jux put yr gears in.

dun put yr gears in when its ard 80+ %

cheers.

Thanks All for your helpful feedback~

Anyway I at office now, cant do anything :(

This morning before i go out i set it at 1 or 2 o'clock, lets see how when I get back home tonight, if really still not doing well maybe I call Digi-cabi tomorrow.

the time it takes to reach 40-45% RH depends on the volume of the cabinet and the stuff that you have put inside. Even if you waited for the empty cabinet to reach 40% RH, once you put stuff in, the RH will rise..

I have 4 dry cabinets ranging from 100L to 600L. Whenever I get a new one in, I will turn the dial all the way to the highest (lowest RH) and leave it for a couple of days. I will also put the stuff in right away instead of waiting. For the size of my cabinet, sometimes it will take more than a week to reach 40% RH (paper based items) as the stuff I got have moisture inside.

I will turn it back once it went past 40% and fine tune it so it stays around 40-45% RH. Remember the indication is an estimate since the reading might not be that accurate. However, as long as it stays around that range, you stuff should be fine.

If you can see the light is still on, give it a couple more days for it to stabilize...

Hi CS TAN, thanks for your additional information :)

This evening when I'm back from work, I saw the digi-cabi RH% dropped from 68% drop till 58% (good sign?)

haha I put all my gear inside the cabi now, except that fungus lens I mentioned earlier in separate thread :p.

Now inside my cabi:-
2 body
1 body mounted with macro lens
1 flash
few filter (inside plastic case)
2 lens
D90 battery
AA battery
SD card inside body (should I take out and put it seperately in cabi?)

btw, just 1 question :embrass: can i also put the flash bag holder, lens bag/case holder in the cabi too?

I will put the lenses and flash guns separate from the bags before putting them in the cabinet.

However, I will caution about putting neck strap and hand strap inside since these straps can get pretty wet after a long and hot outing. But, these straps are usually pretty hard to detach...

My friend has the same problem as you. RH could not reduce even waited for many hours when kept dial at 12 o'clock. What he did to solve the problem was to turn the knob to near max (around 3 o'clock). The RH drops drastically to less than 40%. Then he turn the dial anti-clockwise to around 11 o'clock for the RH to stabalized at around 50%. Maybe it just need to 'warm up' its engine. Hope it helps.

The reason the seller tell you not to put anything inside for the 1st time is because if the items you put in is "wet" it will slow down the RH effect a lot. Just wonder what was in the cabinet when you 1st turn ON, is there sponge in it?

Turn to max (fully clockwise) to speed up the drying process. When it hit about 50%, turn anticlockwise to about 1/4 to 1/3 from min. To load or not to load is actually not an issue, the reason is as stated in para 1.

What can put inside, nearly everything that is not wet. I've coins, stamps, documents, manuals, old films. slides, batteries, flashes except the box, lenses and cameras in it, NO problem. Don't put cleaning solution in it as it will dry up too.
