Day at the museums (for free)
Excitement, adventure and thrills. These words don’t usually come up when describing a museum. But International Museum Day (IMD) might change your mind.
.
In conjunction with IMD’09, museums across the country will be offering special events and promotions from Saturday to May 31. Participating museums not only include those under the National Heritage Board (NHB) such as National Museum of Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum and Singapore Art Museum; but also other establishments like the Marina Barrage, Malay Heritage Centre, Republic of Singapore Air Force Museum and Mint Museum of Toys.
.
The theme for this year’s celebrations is Holiday Fun at Home — perfect for families during this current economic climate. Activities include family and children’s activity workshops and storytelling sessions, adventure trails as well as guided tours and free admission to international blockbuster exhibitions such as Christian Lacroix The Costumer at the National Museum, and The Kangxi Emperor: Treasures from the Forbidden City at the Asian Civilisations Museum. Museums will be offering free entry on certain days, and families can get to win free museum passes.
.
This is the fourth year that the NHB is organising the IMD in Singapore.
