just read from tuesday night paper, 5 mui thai masters challenging china wushu, shao lin turn down, er mei accept. match is on 19-12-09 at guang dong china, homeland of bruce lee.

stated as record :

1) one mui thai master lost to a wushu master in july 09 cause rule states cant use knee & elbow

2) china wushu master in 1921 lost to mui thai after receiving just 3 hits & another was killed in a match in 1924

there were no official records match between the 2 deciplines after 1924.

this is not a thread about moral issues of martial art, just pure and simple question, which do u think is stronger?

Both are good, but nothing beats wwe style wrestling :bsmilie::bsmilie:
in actual fights, power doest plays a part, but how much of it can land on opponent? thats the skill, i suppose thats why they now call it an art form, but its not just a single decipline, hence MMA, mix martial art.

From my understanding...

Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) is more of aggressive attacking..
Wushu is more of a self-defece + counter attack..

Both of them are different kind of martial arts so it's hard to compare.

Beside the form of art, also have to consider the skill level of the Masters right? Just like the different brands of camera, bottom line still depends on the one using it.

If one can resist and choose not to fight, he/she is the strongest.

Muay Thai FTW.

They go in for the kill with the hardest parts of the body as weapons. Wushu is flashy and fast, Muay Thai is a bit slower but lethal.

Let's say, in the real world, the best of Muay and best of Wushu fight in a death match, who will win?

Technically, it is different and hard to compare, but in real world situation, who will survive?

thats precisely what they trying to determine here with the match.

but will it be an all out death match or still with rules that formides use of knee, elbow, blow to head etc? if so, is it still a fair match?

fact is, mui thai has always been full contact with use of glove.

than, with use of glove, how can wushu uses the various "grabbing" technic? or is that effective against mui thai at all?

forget about all those fighting sequence in the movies. iirc, there was a wushu match w/o gloves few months back, saw it on tv, each contact doesnt last more than 10 sec before 1 fighter is down on floor.

too bad there is no news about live telecast for the match.

This is interesting.

I kind of think if the wushu master is fast enough to 'siam' the muai thai killer elbow or knee then he has a chance of winning.

Else he'll kiss the floor on the very moment.

in wushu, there is also a saying, "using slow to stop fast", as in tai chi, chin na or if i am not wrong japan akido. how does is stand up against the full body amour of mui thai?
