I see one guy using len hood in a studio.
I thought outdoor then need to use?

dEthANGeL: Yup, it was used by the Canon staff. Those on loan were the film SLRs.

bwilly: Its to prevent stray light from causing flare as sometimes the light might bounce unexpectedly. Improves contrast too.
Its still up to use to use it... no hard or fast rules.
