But actually, what is the fuss all about? Only a person spray some grafitti. Why is everyone getting so excited?
Why is there such an over-reaction to such a trivial and insignificant thing, as though there is a meltdown of a nearby nuclear power station.
But when there is a really serious matter, people downplay it as though it is not such a big deal. Like for example, losing $48 Billion.

Fine will mean a loss and higher costs, which is a good reason to increase fares to commuters.

IMHO :

It amazes me that everyone is very concern about the security of SMRT trains except SMRT herself.
It seems they have an attitude problem.

This is the second time security had been breached and also the building of the safety sliding doors are painfully slow and more may jump and die from the MRT platform. Why don't they speed up by deploying more work teams to more stations at night time.

The SMRT CEO should be sacked immediately and the gahmen should step in and take over the task of providing security and safety of the MRT system. The gahmen have more power and resources to speedup the process.

The Public Transport System of by rail and bus are greatly promoted by the gahmen and much use by the public every day. THERE SHOULD BE NO COMPROMISE OR EFFORT SPARED TO ENSURE THEIR MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY AND SAFETY !

SMRT had indeed disappoint the citizens with their lax and care less attitude.

Too bad, the platform doors are under LTA contract, not SMRT...

so if a terrorist can break in and plant a bomb, it's no big deal either?

No.
Because such assumption means that whole of Sing live in fear of people putting bombs in parked buses/planes/buildings/shopping/boats/ships centres overnight.
That's ridiculous.

Anyway, the modus could be suicidal - meaning it is carried on to a mrt train and ignited. So no real need to go to all the trouble to break in and plant at night.

Hmmm... then we don't need fences for the airport and army camps also liao hor...?? When there is a breach there is a breach!!! if you spent money and setup security measures and it end up being breach, you have to take responsibilities and heads have to roll....:hung::hung::hung: NO EXCUSES!! Anyway the Airport is spending more mola on motion sensors around their perimeters.

i would think that the fear and assumption is very real.

It is best to be prepared and ensure MAXIMIUM SAFETY and SECURITY for our trains and buses because thousands of citizens take this form of transport everyday.

I can assure you that if bombs explodes in an underground SMRT train, it is not a joking matter.

Many will die with heads or limps severed. And many more will die because of the FIRE, poisonous fumes and smoke suffocation.

IT IS NOT A JOKING MATTER and I prefer safety and security before hand than regret later on.

Saying sorry by the SMRT is of no use and no consolation if a terrorist incident really happened to one of the trains.

The government are the BIGGEST shareholders of SMRT and SBS. Hope they can do something about this unacceptable situation.
