Monopod usefulness in low light indoor?

Hi all, I expect to be taking frequent shots of animals (esp. cats) in indoor locations where lighting can be less than ideal. I find that other than subject movement, due to different positions that I may take up, sometimes camera shake is an issue too. Other than using IS lens, will monopod help here? Of cos, if i do get one, i can possibly utilize it for outdoor lower lighting conditions such as animals on a gloomy day or street. Ease of carrying and ability to change positions fast is what I am thinking about. Any thoughts and advices will be appreciated!

definitely monopods will help... u're shooting animals, so i doubt u'll ever need a long exposure that requires a tripod...

I would recommend to use tripod for indoor or low lighting animal shots when they are very still.

monopod sounds like a good option if you need ease of movement.
how about a chest pod?

Thanks for the advices..i think tripod is a tad too difficult for me to move around quickly to capture different poses and positions. That's why I was thinking of monopod in the first place. Light weight, easier to change position/height etc. What's a chest pod??
