shooting in flim is ok ?

Wonder why they are so strict about the hours when you can photograph. Which means if the light is great at 8am, you can shoot and submit that. The "register before you shoot" rule is also kinda unnecessary and redundant IMO.

Well, of coz not, but don't you think having these timing restrictions is ridiculous? Especially when you are talking about the exterior of the library and they don't have to be there to open door for you. They are only creating unnecessary work for both themselves and participants.

Well, they're only creating unnecessary work for the participants. It's makes their job much easier by restricting us snapping the building at 12 mid-nite.

hmm..i think for the foyer and courtyard, they do need to open the main door for you to access

but for the exterior and front porch, i don't think they can stop you from shooting at 8am in the morning right?

According to the rules, you DO need to register at the counter before you shoot, and you can only shoot at the designated times, so... :( The rest of the rules are pretty standard, just don't understand this timing/registration restriction. They don't have enough work to do? :p

but is this rule standard?

"Areas: National Library building (exterior), front porch, foyer and courtyard
- Photographs and digital images taken shall remain the sole and strict property of the National Library Board, Singapore and they can only be used as entries for the contest"

why should any photos that i took of the library exterior and never submit to the competition becoms the property of NLB? any comments?

If you submit, like all contests, you surrender the rights of the pics to the organizers. But copyright still belongs to you. Whatever you did not submit does NOT belong to them.

The clause states that the images you've shot of the library can only be used for the contest and nothing else (like selling to stock agency). Fair enough coz if you do sell NLB pics, you will rightfully need their permission anyway.
