I use Gaim for the same purpose.

One advantage is that I can use it on both my Linux and Windows machines because there is a version for both operating systems.

cool UI! ... if i were using linux i would probably use GAIM too. however, GAIM is 6mb in size, whereas miranda is only 600kb+ (and abt 1.5mb in size if u download all the good plugins)..

using a relatively old laptop, so every bit counts (literally) when running prgs.
