Minimum image size for printing 8R?

You should have at least a 2400 x 3600 for a 300dpi picture.

8R = 8" x 10"
Print photo quality in 300 dpi = (8" x 10")x 300
= 2400 x 3000

Actually 2400x3000 (ie 300dpi) is more like a maximum than a minimum. You can probably get away with 200dpi or less.
