Allo all,
im new to using SLR's,
just bought a Nikon F80 and the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4D lens

how do i find out the minimum focusing distance for this/ and future lenses?
issit 0.45, coz on the focusing ring, i see infinity on one end and 0.45m on the other?

stoopid qn i noe...but i dunno the answer

and does anyone here have an underwater housing for the f80?
am thinking of getting one.......even though im a noob....lol....better to spend my bonus on something i want than to just let it slowly disappear.

thanks.

hmmm the number u see on the lens would ne the minimium focusing distance i guess.

But if u get the Nikon G lenses the dont have the focusing ring markings.

How much u get ur 50mm f1.4d ?? I think that's quite a ex lens considering a 50mm f1.8 is abt $200+

do u mean the focal length of the lenz .............?? ..............

:D

minimum forcusing distance is the distance between your lens and the subject. If the distance between your lens and the subject ( a handphone for example) is shorter than 0.45, then the handphone will not be sharp. Some camera won't allow you to release the shutter if the subject is not in focus.

hence, you need to move back so the lens and the subject is 0.45m or further. Then the subject will be in focus and you can release the shutter .

Correction: The focussing distance is measured from SUBJECT to the FILM PLANE (there's a marking on the top plate most SLRs that look something like ---o---).
