Hi all, I am very new to Milky Walk and Star trail photography and would like to check the recommended lens for it.

I am using Sony A7RIII with Tokina ultra-wide Lens which is an APS -C lens now.

I am looking at a full frame lens but not sure which is a good recommend one.. I am looking at Sony 12-24 lens but it is going at f4.0 (not sure if it is sufficient). The latest Laowu 12mm lens seems good but it does not have AF mode. While AF mode is not necessary for Milky Way, I am still using this lens for other usage by which AF would be necessary.

Any good recommendation from any one?

PS : My city light pollution is bad and thus not sure if f4.0 is sufficient..

I would say among all the native lenses for A7R3, the best option for you is 16-35mm f2.8 GM..
Secondly, you could use 24mm f2.8 but I think it is not wide enough.

Laowa were a good choice, and pertain to its manual focus, you would not use the autofocus anyway on milkyway :) AF is not usable to snap on the stars..

Last but not least, don't use APSC lenses as you would not get the advantage of having a full frame sensor...

Hope it helps.. happy shooting :)

Thanks for your input!
