hey guys, what's the difference between metz/canon flash?
heard that the "color" of the metz flashes are really good.
what are the pros and cons of each brand of flash?
colour?
recycling rate?
max sync speed?
BTW, comparing between 420/430EX and metz 44 AF-4.
also, are metz flashes E-TTL II compatable or just ETTL/TTL only?

metz only e-ttl,
and that's the only shortcoming.
as long as ur sca adaptor is the older version,
u can shoot with any mode.(i hv a spare if ever u need)
go for a second hand 54mz3/4,
the fill flash is wonderful,
recycling time is fast w/o external battery pack.

When my Sigma flash died a few months back I was trying to do a in-shop comparison between the 580EX and Metz 54. Unfortunately, going to CP (Peninsular), TCW, John 3:16, AP (Funan), no one had the flash with the right adaptor. Seems like Metz is pretty hard to find in SG (which makes me question the support as well). Ended up getting a 580EX. Works much better than my old Sigma, much more reliable.

does only able to do E-TTL and not E-TTL II make alot of difference? also since i'm using a 1.6X FOV body, does it mean E-TTL II is very important?
if my sca adaptor is the older version, i can shoot with any mode, if its the newer version than what mode can i shoot with?
the flash u reccomended, is it hammerhead? i've never seen 2nd hand metz flash sold before, so where to find? rough price of the flash u recommend?

e-ttl or e-ttl2 don't really make a diff(both crap),
but that means on new digital body,
no e-ttl setting on flash=no high sync unless in manual mode.

with M3 or newer leg,
u can shoot in manual or fully progam(green window).
manual not easy if ambient light keep changing,
fully program u loss control of everyting.

got my 54mz3 from tcw @350. condition 8.
btw, its a shoe mounted flash with twin flash head,
not a hammer flash.

so does the 54mz3 have e-ttl?
no ettl on flash means no high sync in manual mode of camera or flash?

does this mean that if i shoot with a 54mz3, my max sync speed is 1/200 still?

heard that canon flashes allow you to exceed the 1/200 max speed, are there metz flashes that can do this?

what is M3 leg?

dont buy metz. it stirs up cognitive dissonance because the brand is different

just buy canon

now to the thread starter,
u seems to be new to metz world.
if anyone can loan u a canon flash,
bring it down with ur cam to my shop,
just to compare it with a metz.

but if high sync is important to u,
then save ur trouble,
just buy canon or sigma.
only thing i can say about canon's flashes is,
they r as good as canon's tripod.

sms me @ 91011233 if keen to test a metz.

i didnt put thumbs down

i put one lah.
saying buy this or that w/o some ground,
very,..... how to put it in a nice way?
anyway, go thru dpreview,
u see tons of users saying how 'GOOD' their canon flashes r,
n equal number of users telling them if they get
'GOOD' results, they r using it wrongly.
errrh, or is it the other way round?
metz users has no such qualm.
