above shot was taken at the esplanade.

1.in what area is critique to be sought?
I will like feedback on anything since im a newbie. from composition to post processing anything is welcome.

2.what one hopes to achieve with the piece of work?
showing the beauty of the weathered merlion.

3.under what circumstance is the picture taken? (physical conditions/emotions)
just trial and error actually since im a newbie

4.what the critique seeker personally thinks of the picture
i like the fact that im able to see the close up of grime one the merlion. of cos the beautiful sky adds as a nice constrast.

1. Picture is too small (but I clicked on your like to see the bigger pict)
2. You might actually want to go really close to capture the textures and weathering. this looks more like a normal merlion shot. Perhaps a close up on the scales might do better for what you are going for.
3. Maybe a slower shutter speed will smooth out the spouting water.
4. Good that you placed the merlion head using rule of thirds.

Overall a nice picture, though another type of shot may have better showed the weathering.

i am thinking of something less tight. why? so that you can see a bigger arc of the water, which would be more pleasing than something that just goes out straight. not sure if you are getting what i mean.

moving more to the right might give you a more pleasing "side" of the merlion. :)

thanks for all the comments! will try to improve;)

another thing may be the lighting... you might want to try using fill-in flash to soften the shadows so that the merlion is more "white". just MHO
