just went back to normal.. finally...
interesting, and scary, both servers are on the same subnet, that's generally regarded as very poor network design.

not on MOL, i do get an answer, but this is what i get: (note, "status: REFUSED", could be they aren't allowing non-MOL customers to use their dns) but as you say, it's already started working again, so all's as well as can be expected :)

that's 165.21.100.88 not 165.21.83.100...

but do try to change it back as soon as possible, it's not polite using one ISP's dns when you're on someone else's network.

Anyway, if you want to be safe run your own caching DNS server... ^^

found this from the very noisy HWZ internet forum:
http://www.starhub.com/online/customersonly/index.html

it's planned maintenance:

Message Board

18 June 2004

Dear valued MaxOnline and Digital Voice customers

We will be performing island-wide preventive maintenance on 21 June 2004. During the maintenance, there may be a brief period of service disruption to facilitate the work. However, the maintenance work will be carried out only during off-peak hours from 2am to 6am so as to minimise any inconvenience to our customers.

We seek for your kind understanding as we work towards optimising the performance of our network for the enjoyment of all our customers.

Thank you.

Regards
StarHub Customer Care
