No...it's stil there :bsmilie: I just checked it. You must choose "AV Product" under PRODUCT CATEGORY, "Digital Still Camera" under PRODUCT SUB CATEGORY, and then ""DMCFZ30PP" under MODEL NUMBER...then Bingo!!!

 I just saw the file size for one RAw picture => 18MB!!! (pg. 31) What's going on???

Just read thru the manual, it is 740g full loaded, this is seriously heavy man. Now I'm so split between this and KM D5. Both are interesting and almost equally heavy. As much I like to go RAW, FZ30 is certainly not quite the there with that. No mention of conversion software as well. Let's see how they prize themselves.

740g is not heavy lah...Wait till you carry my 4Kg camera + lens.

Anyway, if I'm not wrong, it's not right to compare the FZ30 and the D5 becasue the D5 is either without lens or just with a kit lens (18mm~70mm). If you try to mount up a 300mm F4 lens on the D5 to match the maximum zoom range of the FZ30, I think it'll easily goes up to 2kg...

But you're right about the RAW. Seems that Panasonic still not up to the mark yet. If you are prone to shooting in RAW, then I don't think the FZ30 is a very good choice...unless it has a big buffer or a super-high buffer transfer rate.

Looks like it's not going to be able to deliver low-noise shots...

Burst is disabled when in tiff/ raw mode.. :thumbsd:

I'm full aware of the weight issue with D5, FZ30 is definitely one up on 12x, but almost everythingelse it would be D5, that makes my decision very difficult now. Of course the feel factor is something is on the top of my list which I can only decide when they are finally released.

But manual zoom and a real focus ring is the way to go. I think FZ30 is lack of focal distant on the lens or the in EVF.

I just have to wait and see, hopefully in the coming Comdex I might be able to see both cams on display.

mm..can't seem to download the files.
its 8MP! any mention on ccd size...?
more megapixel and small ccd means noiser images!

CCD size... 1/1.8" ??? Read the post in the dpreview...

it using the same battery for lc40,lc5,lc1 rated at 1400mah

You're not the only one. I tried whole of last night and now still can't download it! Last night the error message was "server not found" and now always getting the "connection was reset" message. Very frustrating!!!

The specs are not bad for a prosumer camera...

But there is still no TTL and optical viewfinder...

Some questions i have

1) What size thread would the lens be now

2) 1/1.8" CCD, can it take relatively less noisy picture at ISO 400, since the sensor is so small, 8MP some more.

3) Would the internal flash be high enough tat it does not vignet with the lotus hood on

4) Would the AF be faster?

Somethings i like about this camera

1) Manual Zoom

2) 2 jog dials, just like D70s, real good plus plus point

Here is an excerpt from someone on dpreview who listed out the cool new features :

1. 12x optical zoom - digital zoom turned off
2. Front and rear manual dials
3. higher mounted flash and hot shoe

4. 2" tiltable and rotatable LCD, plus backlight compensation
5. Logical order and arrangement of back panel buttons
6. Logical arrangement of 'Burst' and 'OIS' buttons on top of camera
7. Centered viewfinder, lens and tripod mount makes for nice balance
8. Side memory card access door
9. Manual Zoom ring
10. Manual Focus ring
11. Shutter button location well placed
12. Location of flash open lever
13. Remote socket for remote shutter cable
14. Battery door design (safety catch) & its position away from the tripod receptacle

15. 8 MP with RAW
16. FAT 32 = 2GB flash cards
17. Instant start up = no need to wait for lens to extend
18. Manual focus assist on the LCD
19. Various aspect ratio selection
20. Program shift function which lets you change setting even in Program AE mode

21. AF Macro (no longer on dial)
22. F11
23. Food mode (this is useful for me, but lets see how well it actually does)
24. WB setting for flash
25. 'Moveable' one area focusing; example spot focus target can be moved from center to any of the 9 positions (see page 89).

26. Ability to control individually the settings for Contrast, Sharpness, Satruation and even Noise Reduction (page 92)

27. Ability to use flash in Burst mode

And the specs as posted by someone else on dpreview.
Looks like going to be noisy. bigger CCD but MP increaded from 5 to 8!
BUT VGA movie mode now!
