Manfrotto Micro Positioning Plate
Just wanna share some useful information of this plate that bought it last Friday. I tested it over the last weekend and find that it is pretty easy to use and I can focus the insect to the nearest distance (about 12cm) from my 100mm macro lens. It also has quick release that allow me to position the setup fast. See my setup with the plate

What can it do ?
It allows to position your setup nearer to the insect. Useful for macro photographer who want to take serious still life nature shots.

Where to buy this plate and how much does it costs ?
I got it $105 at CP.

Where can I find its specification ?

Any other advice before I want to get this plate ?
Ensure your tripod is stable to support the weight as well as a good and strong ball head. So far it works very well with my markin ballhead.

Any sample shot ?

Hi Megaweb,

I am seriously thinking of getting the above....was quoted just below S$90 for it. Need to check with you a few things....

1) Can a normal tripod (pan and tilt) hold the thing? I presume there is a normal thread for the tripod to screw below it?
2) I read that it can be quickly removed from the device by pressing a button. Is that correct?
3) Do you use it often or has it become a burden or lay chay to set up etc....
4) In its most compact form,i.e. all retracted, what is the LxBxH of it?

Sorry for the questions, but hope and appreciate your advice and comments. Thanks! :D

1. It comes with 2 Ballhead plate holes (located at the bottom of the focusing plate) which support most of the ballhead plates.

2. Yes.

3. Best for no wind condition.

4. Not sure of the dimension but it is very flat.

You can try it out at CP.

Megaweb, thanks....will be going down maybe this Sat. But need to confirm this point first...is it only for ballhead plates? Can it be screwed on top of a normal tripod head?

Yes it does support normal tripod head

Other than CP, are there any other stores that carry this?

Checked with CP on Thursday and they're out of stock and not expecting any for at least a month. :(
