Manfrotto 479 Monopod - Removing Base Plate

I have an old Manfrotto 479 Monopod which I am trying to remove the base plate, but can't seem to be able to do it. Has anyone ever done that and if so, how? Thanks.

Went to Cathay, and they said it cannot be done...Oh well....
