Malaysia Airlines plane missing...

Pardon my ignorance. What does Area of Responsibility mean? Area that Singapore is in charge of for this search and rescue mission?

Yes, Singapore Rescue Co-ordination Centre (RCC) is leading the Search and Rescue (SAR) operations along with Vietnam's Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center for Zone 3 (Vungtau MRCC).

Submarine Support and Rescue Vessel (SSRV) MV Swift Rescue (IMO 9536519) of the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) with a Deep Search and Rescue Six (DSAR 6) submersible onboard is now on standby, ready to sail on a moment notice upon activation.

I see. Thanks. Pray hard for those onboard the plane. I reckon search will probably be suspended till the morning. Nothing much the guys can see at night?

She missed the flight.

On CNA. MLY doing checks - on western side of West Malaysia as well as eastern side of West Malaysia. Reporter said this is the MLY SOP.

A bit strange.

So if a plane flies from New York towards London and is missing over the Atlantic Ocean, do the US authorities also check whether the plane is missing over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California?

Anyway, two persons now found to have boarded the plane using stolen passports.

May be they suspect the two persons may have hijack the plane to Indonesia :(

This look like a case of hijacking or suicide attack by terrorists :(

dude, air search called off, sea search continue.....

so sad, 200 plus people including a baby, most of us in CS are not M'sians but we still can feel the shock.

If this is true it is really scary... why Malaysian Airlines???

It could easily be singapore airline...

I think there was a lapse in Airport security.

Salient points from Telegraph.co.uk

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/wor...en-passports-used-on-missing-plane-MH370.html

Quote
• China Southern, which operated a codeshare on the flight, said both the passengers using stolen passports had booked through its ticketing office.

• A leading aviation safety expert also said that it was “extraordinary” that the pilots of the jetliner did not have time to make a distress call.

• David Learmount, of the specialist aviation magazine Flight Global, said that as the plane was cruising at about 35,000 feet when it lost contact over the South China sea, the pilots would normally have had “plenty of time” to radio in any technical problems before the plane hit the water.

• Data from the plane showed no cause for panic. After a steady climb to 35,000ft, the Boeing 777 jet levelled off and then abruptly stopped sending its location, speed, and altitude. There was no sign of any sudden descent.

• The absence of any signal from the plane particularly troubled experts; even if both engines on the jet had failed, there should have been time to issue a distress call as the plane descended.

Joining the ongoing search since 0200H last night, a frigate, missile corvette and one of our Sikorsky S-70B Naval Helicopters have been deployed to assist in the search and rescue operations for Malaysian Airlines Flight MH370, which went missing yesterday.

Our SSRV MV Swift Rescue will be joining them today, after preparations through the night for the search operation.

With all the evidences pointing towards terrorism.
Seem like everyone suspect this is a terrorist act.

But usually for that kind of thing, some idiot would have claim victory by now.

????

What "evidences" ??

Two illegal person using stolen passport to enter CHINA ??

Has any group even claim responsibility yet ?? Isn't it kind of pointless to bring down a plane as an act of terror and not claim credit for it ??

They may have more than one target. If they claim victory now.
Everyone will take precaution and the 2nd target will be difficult to hit.

Evidences
- No bad weather
- No distress call of technical failure ( engine problem etc )
- 2 persons with fake passports
- Most of the passengers are Chinese returning to Beijing
- Beijing ordered crack down on Muslim separatists

If the terrorists want to send a message to Beijing, they would target a plane going to Beijing.

So this is "evidences" how ??

You might as well claim each and every flight that has ever crashed and not be proven beyond a doubt, as a terrorist act... since planes have been crashing when commercial flight 1st begin...

What you have my friend... is a Theory... while your theory may yet be proven correct... till more official Evidences turn out... I'll wait for the official statement.

Unless of course a 2nd or 3rd plane goes down too...
