Totally different applications. Depends on wat you want to shoot.

Shoot close ups -> macro
Shoot landscape -> Wide angle

IMO get a wide angle converter that comes with macro to try on your current lens to try out first den choose?at least wont waste so much money to buy and then sell again if you find it not to your liking.

If you're not sure yet, look first at your photos. See if you have more pictures which are taken at wide angle, or zoomed in to get details. From there, it's much easier to make a choice.

think about both for 3 months,

the one you forget after 3 months you don't buy

the one you remember after 3 months you buy

if you remember both, buy both.. :bsmilie:

Buy wide angle and shoot landscape and macro with it. :bsmilie:

i think easier to shoot landscape with macro lens.. :bsmilie:

Since this is your 1st post, let me be first to welcome you here. :)

As for your question, your kit-lens can take landscape pretty well. So, I don't think you should be in a hurry for wide angle lens.

For macro, I suggest you read this thread:

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=492712

There are some cheaper solutions for macro.

However, since these two type of lenses are distinctly for different purposes, it would imply you have distinctly two different interest. You would need to ask yourself which one to do first, then you can make the decision.

Interesting, can tell us the lenses that you used?

If you did not say is taken by a macro lens, I would thought the first one taken either by a tilted-shift lens or after PP.

The first shots is using 85mm PC Macro lens. :bsmilie: The second shots is reversed 24mm.

Taken with the same lens (85mmPC), btw, all the macro shots are uncropped.

Btw, posting my comment was not mean to confuse TS, but one must understand what he/she need before buying stuff.

Not easy to give comments to ppls posting question to ask what should him/her buy when we don't even know his/her needs.

Lenses are just a tools, understand it and it will serve you well. :)

just like, macro lens can shoot landscape and wide angle lens can be use to shoot macro. :)

Ok... Now I know how did you... Nice shots! My guess is correct, your 85mmPC has tilted-shift capability.

Both are different kettle of fish erh ... you have to decide lor.

Personally for me I would get a wide lens since I will almost always use it more often.
The reverse is true for macro lovers
