Macro shot, comments pls..

Just bought a Tamron 90mm, think this is my best shot...

*original pic, no crop no PS (except resized and bordered)

Hows my DOF?
Subject too small, am i too far?
How to improve on composition when bugs keep moving around? I know this pic like no composition.. :cry:
Should i stay one place and wait or just walk around and see what i can find...

Comment on anything pls... :dunno:

Subject is too small and yes you are too far away from the subject.

switch to manual focus and recompose for better composition.

IMHO Hunting is the best part of Macro photography, so hunt aim and fire.

What I normally do is to switch to manual focus and prefocus my lens to the minimal focusing distance (1:1), once I spot my subject I will go closer to the subject until it is in focus, compose and shoot. Sounds easy but harder to actually do.

Your insect shot looks kind of small and cannot tell the detail and DOF. This insect is normally size from 1cm to 1.5cm. Try to go closer to the object and frame it to occupy about 50%. To improve the composition, use the Rules of Third.

hey thanx, i tink my biggest mistake was that i was afraid to get too close..

Rules of third always in mind when trying to shoot insects, but these tiny bugger keep movin around so fast (mayb i'm too slow).. LoL...

see subject, focus on, focus lock, try re-compose....... damn bug running away, snap snap snap.. LoL
