For portrait, you may shot the details as well . . .
some may not like it . . . :bsmilie:
(wriggles, pimples, etc will be very clear . . . )
But i maybe getting one soon too . . . basically for macro, may try for portrait. :bsmilie:
becos I tried out the Sigma 50mm F1.4, which everyone said better than Canon 50mm F1.4, the focused subject is still not sharp enough...!
Verify that the fault is not with you. Always easy to blame the lens and 'justify' getting a supposedly better one. Many people have lots of sharp images with the 50mm lens. To check the lens just download a focus test chart and follow the instructions.becos I tried out the Sigma 50mm F1.4, which everyone said better than Canon 50mm F1.4, the focused subject is still not sharp enough...!

Thinking of getting 100mm f/2.8 Macro too. My first option was to get 85mm f/1.8. But then, tempted at this lens more, as it can be used for two functions.
i am using 100L 2.8 to do both macro and portraits.
very good in both genres. superb lens.
my samples as below:
Macro: sharp and fast.
Portrait: nice bokeh and colours.
Hope you like them.

Yeah what happened to her??? Makeup run?
It was a filming session.
The scene was that some rough fella splash a bucket of something on her.
