Yes, just that it has 1:1 macro capability but it also can focus to infinity.

Of course!

Not apllicable to those closeup filters.

If you are not really serious in macro but wanna try it out and at the same time need the reach.

I think Sigma 70-300mm 1:2 lens suit you which cosr around $200-300+

Yes, why not. A dedicated macro lens is just a normal lens but it offer a shorter minimum focusing distant than other lenses.

In some sense, shorter minimum focusing distant (may) equal to larger image on your film/sensor.

I have a 100mm macro lens 2.8f (canon) some times I use it for portrait at the distance of 10 feet. The details can be very clear.

yes

it has 2 focusing points :
- focus far like a normal 100mm lens
- focus near for macro like 1:1 in the focusing distance of 30cm.

buy Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro lens loh....not bad for 1:2
