Can a macro lens like Tamron 90mm be used to shoot distances at events? Any limitations at all?
Hope can get advice.

why not?

just take note when it hunts, it'll generally hunt longer than non macro lens
this is due to the range of AF it can make, and the resolution of the focusing mechanism.

yea y not?
ive been using my tamron 180 macro as a tele lens all these while..

The terms tele and macro are not mutually exclusive on a lens. Tele refers the the focal range type while macro refers to a lens with usually magnification factor of more than 0.5. That said, macro lenses usually focus much slower compared to normal lenses of the same range.

hmmm ok. Thanks alot. Got limited budget so wondering which lens i should get on top of my 18-70, 70-300 and 50mm f1.8 especially if i wanna do event/wedding and product photography.

Sure thing, i use my Nikon 105 micro as a medium long tele sometimes. Its super sharp too!
But the focusing can be slow at times. Thats why i prefer my 85/1.4 when i need a short tele.
