Hello guys!

I need your help here to suggest which macro lens to use with my D90 + grip.

Im considering the 105mm f2.8 VR which cost around 1k+ but would also consider other alternatives.:)

if you did a search and don't require VR,
you get lots of alternatives.

- Tamron 90mm f2.8
- Sigma 105mm f2.8
- Tokina 100mm f2.8
- Nikon AF-D 105 f2.8D (2nd hand)

If you are into normal macro and non-animate objects, aTamron 90mm should be suitable for you, if taking insects or butterflies is your cup of tea, maybe go for a longer Sigma 150mm macro or a Raynox DCR 250?

My 2 cents =)

You can try Tamron 180mm. very sharp, cheaper than vr and yet can go head to head with nikon lense. check the reviews.

for insects, 105 on your d90 would be sufficient.

you might want to stick with the nikon 105 VR, instead of those that I've mentioned, so the nikon 105VR does not extend during focusing, which is less likely to scare away your bugs.
