M5 lens compatibility

Shout out to M5 owners. I recently bought a EF-S 55-250mm to use with my M5 via the Canon EF to EF-M adapter.
The M5 took longer than usual to power up, could not engage AF (even when menu options and AF switch indicates AF) cannot be powered off but goes black after 3 minutes. Anyone experienced similar issues with other lenses?

I just tested my M6 with EFS 17-55mm, it powers up normally and able to AF. I am sure your lens is not in MF mode. Do you have other lens to test with adaptor? If not, think you might have to make a trip to CSC.

I used on EFS 10-18 and 50mm , there is no issue on the power up and focus issue with Original Canon adaptor. But I do purchase a 3rd party which is dirt cheap I do face focusing issue.

I actually thinking should I buy a EF-s 55-250 F4-5.6 STM or EF-m 55-200 F4.5-6.3 STM for my M5 kekeke anyone got experience on either lens pls share

Dear M5 users,

how you find this camera as compared to the DSLR cameras like canon 77D or the 80D?
is it recommended for birding/wildlife photography if i were to mount EF-S lens with the adapter?
is the tracking/auto focus fast enough?
any comments?

The M5 is basically a 80D with EVF and a new trackpad for setting AF point. But because it is so new, some Canon EF-S lenses may not work with it. Some third party EF-M also have to be sent to the workshop for firmware upgrades to work with the M5. So far, lens compatibility has been patchy. I may just stick to Canon EF-M lenses for safety. But the choice is highly limited.

I've never owned the Tamron 18-200mm but tamron has put out an advisory with a list of serial numbers of this lens thst will work with the M5.
Those units not on the list need to be sent back to Tamron for a firmware update. I don't know if online retailers will allow you choose the serial numbers to purchase.

I prefer to pair EOS-M5 with 22mm F2 and external flash. But many will tell you wow your camera so small. hahahaha I wonder do they mean small camera can bo?

I just tested my EF-S 55-250 with M5 via adapter. No problem whatsoever.
