Hi all,

Recently just purchased Canon EX430 II for use on my Canon 500D.
When using M mode, I find that the shutter speed is limit at 1/200.

Is this a limitation of the camera body or the flash?
How can ger higher shutter speed? Upgrade body or flash?

Thanks.

the flash sync speed of the 500D is 1/200,
turn on high speed sync on your 430EX II and you'll be able to use higher shutter speeds

the max sync speed is the highest shutter speed limit when the first curtain and second curtain are fully open while the sensor able to record the image in one burst of flash.

for high speed sync is a special function only available on certain cameras and flashes, it has it only limitation as well.

please refer to your camera user manual and flash user manual for more details.
