LX3 High speed flash sync : Any special settings?

Hi,

have been using my sb600 on lx3 for awhile... only in manual mode, but it works quite well...

Recently i tried playing with flash in the outdoors, and read that lx3 is great coz it can sync flash at up to 1/2000.

Just wondering, if i use a non compatible flash (like sb600), and then i just go S mode and choose 1/2000s, will the flash automatically do high speed FP mode?

all i know is that i tried it at home and the images look fine (ie. there is no half picture lit effect due to mistiming btw flash bursts and shutter closing).

Anyone else tried this?

thats the beauty of the electronic shutter curtain on the LX3 compared to the mechanical ones on dSLRs.. you don't need to enable high speed sync on the flash..

woah jchan, just did bit of reading regarding electronic shutter.... awesome!! :)

u seem to know lots abt how these cameras work :)

Yup. I'm doing wireless flash on the LX3... awesome stuff. Now if only they gave it better bokeh.

Post more examples when I can!.

Hi,

several website mention that the LX3 can syn flash up to 1/2000, however so far i've had little luck with this.
I am using FL36R with LX3 via eBay trigger, PT04M bought from Tagotech singapore.

I have tried Manual mode, no such luck, the flash barely register on the subject. Could you share some settings or which mode?
or the synch speed is depending on the remote trigger as well ?

Is there a delay on the remote trigger??? Because with the built-in flash, 1/2000s no problem at all.

there is no settings on the ebay remote trigger, i've had luck synching up to 1/1000 and 1/1300 but that depends on luck not sure why, my rate is 1 out of 10 tries or so. No problem below 1/1000
