Nice try. But I think you really failed, but nevertheless, kudos to you for trying your hardest to shoot soft porn, and for the bravery to post them on CS. Not that you are brave to due to “nudity”, but rather, because they failed in what you tried to do.

Please don’t argue these aren’t soft porn. The organizer of this shoot advertised “sex” to promote this shoot. If I had join, I would have shot something sexy, steamy and wet. I would have no problem with anyone shooting soft porn, but then, at the very least, do it the right way. What is the right way? There are many, but then, do make them steamy and sexy.

The pictures posted in this thread, there are some wet fabric stick to the model’s skin showing off a glimpse of flesh, and that is about all. The model looked bored and out of it. The lighting is off. The composition is, what composition.

Have CS degenerate to this stage?

Btw, I disagree with bor Ahv regarding his last comment.

Thanks for the C&C, DP...

My 1st attempt shooting this WET theme. So i posted to gather C&C.
I'm ready to fail. I had shot them with my limited skill & knowledge.

If the photos are soft porn & offensive to the public, I will removed them.
Moderaters & members pls advice.

Good that u can shoot them sexy, steamy & wet. But I can't, so I'm learning.
I agreed that they are many methods to shoot tis theme.
Can list down the methods or examples to benefit the community?

Pls DO NOT accused the organiser for advertising "SEX" to promote this shoot.
U will get ppls into trouble.
We are a group of hobbyist snappers not SEX MANIC.
U too insulted the modesty of the two models.

If CS is degenerated, so who are responsible? How to improve the current situtation to match canongraphers?

As for Ahv's last comment, I will continue shooting. I'll not afraid to fail.

Thanks again for the C&C.

Mike,

Here is the thread that promoted the shoot.

http://forums.clubsnap.org/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=2946777

How would anyone get into trouble? And how on earth did I insult the modesty of the 2 models? Where did I mention anything about sex addicts?

Please enlighten me.

Btw, sex has been used to sell anything and everything. So, don't give me these hollier then thou rhetoric.

My comment on your pictures were merely on how the pictures can be improved. Or more appropriately, where are the areas that improvements are needed.

How to improve? First and foremost, the organiser must plan this shoot well, he didn't. By just sending the model to be infront of a bunch of photographers and give her a hose, what do you expect?

Lighting for these shots are very trick, because using stodio light can be a hazzard to your health. However, lighting must also be provided for. How? Don't know what was available, but as far as I can see, lighting was flat, and under.

Posing and composition. Photographer's responsibility. hard to do in a mass orgy shoot.

Ok, I take it back regarding Ahv's comment. Uncall for. Shoot more and get better at it.

One way to getting better is to be demanding. Demanding on yourself, on the model, on the organiser and on others who may have any influence to the outcome of the shot.

Best advice thus far, DP

Mike, the lighting was really off. I will not comment on the set/organizer, etc, as I tend to believe the photog has eventual accountability short of the sky falling. I was there a week apart from you, and agree the lighting was challenging. So it comes into the photog's responsibility to make sure the model stands at the best possible position to get the lighting effect you want with respect to the light boxes.

Keep shooting. And like DP says, be very demanding of yourself. Look forward to more of your work :)

Hallo DP,

The TS Only the word "SEXY". "SEX" is NOT even mentioned.

This is my simple enlightenment as per yr request:

If AV (Anti-Vice) saw wat was mentioned, guess wat's the outcome?
The Studio Owner, Organiser & snappers will be invited to "drink Kopi".
In the end, you become the "victim". Cause u spread untrue informations.

If "Sex" was mentioned above, the modesty of the 2 ladies will be invloved.
Their professional also in doubt.

Enough of SEX. Let's go to the technical area.

Yes, I believe yr interest to assist mi to another level.
Therefore i need constructive & solid C&C on the photos.
Those remarks on the thread not that helpful.

How do u know the Organiser didn't plan well? By my works or the water hose?
Justice for the Organiser, pls.
Before shoot started, Organiser brief everybody with full details.
His team of elite did some shoot before the actual day. Post them online to share.
He even share with us a magazine with the same theme.
(Ask those gurus & actual day snappers who were involved in the shoot)

I'm totally new to studio setup, therefore I can't conclude.
Water is reflective, if shot with high key, then over-exposed.
So i guess the setting is under.

Yes, I'm demanding to break through my current level.
Composition is still part of my training. I'm not here to break rules.

Thanks.

Yes, agreed the part DP was highlighting. Demand.

Just to check with those gurus in Lighting.
Water is reflective, do u still wana the subject to be hit by strong light?
Or is there any better method?

I tried but feel underexposed is a better method to see the water flowing.

Thanks for the encouragment.

Frankly, seen a few of the pictures posted from the shoot, none impressed me. Why? The lighting sucks.

If you really want to improve, do the basic. Get that exposure down pat, play around with light. It can get boring. But basic is basic.

I can onlyu comment on things I see posted. From all the pictures posed from this wet shoot, pre-production planning was non-existance.

Btw, if the Singapore vice squad get interested with me saying "sex", Singapore is truly a boring place to be. Last I know, Singapore is not yet that boring.

it's not jsut under or over exposed. you need to use the light to paint the picture. Most of the shots, the exposure is under, but the lighting is flat and boring. Better to exposed correctly, and play around with the lights to bring out the water, to bring out the curves, the features or whatever.

I would suggest the use of backlighting...

Hahaha... sucks Lighting. I had tried that suck method.
Try playing water with flash. See the result.

Yes, will continue boosting my basic. I want a break-through.

Photography is seeing to believe. Alway make MAN make wrong decision.
The backstage crews are always being forgotten.

Singapore AV is only interested in illegal SEX.
Guess U & I are sexy to make this forum degenerating.

Because you are indirectly saying that the model(s) do soft porn. I think that's pretty insulting.

Btw, sex has been used to sell anything and everything.
Agreed. But using sex to sell does not equal soft porn.

As for the photos, it's an ambitious attempt and I don't think I'll have the confidence to try the same if it were me! But I think the comments on lighting, angles etc are justified and would suggest paying more attention to the basics...Good luck for your next shoot! :)
