Lovely pics... makes me wish i still had my 1.4:(

Go get one back. I am curious of Sigma 30 f1.4 too... wondering if it performs as well as its 50mm sibling.

Come on board. I wonder if there's a lot of Sigma 50mm f1.4 user here. Seldom see any pics. Think most are turned off by its cost. But if anyone is thinking of Nikon AFS 50mm, then I think its reasonable to add another 100 to get the sigma one. Disclosure: Not a Sigma salesperson. :)

Adding another. This one is pretty.

Hi, what is the market price for Nikon AFS 50mm and Sigma 50mm, I am very tempted to get this prime lens.

Regards,
Gerries

The last time I asked in Jan - Nikon AFS cost about $750 whereas Sigma cost about $860-880 range. So its about $100 dollars more.

This one taken f1.4 as well. The sharpness is still evident.

I've got the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and the Nikon AFD 50mm f1.4.

Do a search and you'll be able to find rave reviews about the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as well. I'd say it is great when used on a cropped body.

No doubt the Sigma 30mm f1.4 has becoming one of my most frequently used lens with my cropped body, I noticed inconsistency WB and exposure when coupled between different body (D70 and D300 in my case).

On the other hand, the Nikon AFD50mm f1.4 does not exhibit such behaviour.

Hi, can you put up some of your 30mm f1.4 shots? Am really curious to see. You know Nikon is coming up with its 35mm f1.8 lens at a much cheaper price compared to Sigma.

30mm is quite heavy as well right?

At one point I was so curious about Nikon AFS 50mm f1.4 that I thought of selling Sigma to get it. To me, the biggest disadv of Sigma is its weight. Heavy for a 50mm. But glad to hear that its even comparable to 50mm f1.2.

The new G lens you mean? The Sigma outperforms it. The new Nikon has very poor bokeh.

I believe the Sigma is a full-frame lens, while the Nikkor is an aps-C design.

The Sigma 30mm is actually a DX/APS-C lens. Only the 50mm F1.4 is a FF lens.

There are dozens of threads regarding the Sigma 30mm on NikonCafe. Do check them out. Look for thread names with "dirty thirty".. Puzzles me why they got the Siggy that.. :dunno:

I'd say it is not a fair comparison between the Sigma and the new Nikon 35mm since one is a f1.4 and the other, a f1.8.

You can actually go under "Equipment Discussions --> Sigma/ Tamron/ Tokina" where there is this Sigma 30mm f1.4 User Group and there are lots of photos to see. Anyway, one of those that I've posted there

nice pic you got there. Thanks for the info. Will take a look.

I love my Sigma 50mm f1.4. None of my other lenses can produce this bokeh. I am still learning how to make the most of this great lens.

Yup. Nice bokeh there. I am getting more and more in love with my Sigma 50mm as well. It is my main lens currently.
