Looking to engaged the services of a chiropractor.

I have knee pain from an old sports injury which has yet to heal even though it has been more than a year already.

Would appreciate if anyone has recommendations of a good chiropractor.

KAM SIAH KAM SIAH...

friend chiros are back specialists... i sugest going to ployclinic and gettign a referal to a sports doctor either at changi gneeral or alexander hospital:) its quite affordable...

BTW what is the nature of your knee pain?
Pain above knee? (where thigh joins knee cap)
Below knee (where front of lower leg joins knee cap)
Under Knee cap (inside the knee)
Inside of knee (inner side of leg?)
is there instability (can put weight on 1 leg? can pull and tug the lower leg with no pain? )
Pain when climbing stairs ?

i am not a doctor but deal alot with sportsmen so knee injuries are sth i see often. Let me know:)

Hi captnj,

I was told that my knee pain was due to misalignment of the backbone and the sports injury aggravated it. That's why the search for a chiro.

BTW, the pain is at the side of the knee near the ligament, pain is kinda of searing hot. There's no instability thou...

misalignment of backbone? uh who say? what was the nature of the injury?

Injury was sustained from a fall while roller blading.

Misalignment of backbone is from a massues(spelling?) who suggested I look for a chiro.

misalignment (if no prev injury to the spine) is possibly posture realted, or even genetic... but the fall i would guess is a totally unrelated injury. go to the sports doc.. :)

u get medical advice from a masseuse?

eh go to polyclinic, tell them your problem, ask for a referral to see an orthopaedic specialist first. the ortho will then know what to do next.

i have a few friends who are orthos.
Dr Paul Thng, CGH. (my church friend).

and Dr Andrew Quoc Dutton, SGH (my cousin).

:)

alternatively, u can goto AH and ask to be referred to their sports medicine department

Masseuse did not give me medical advice. Rather, masseuse advised me to seek medical attention.

I knew I had spinal misalignment for a long time but it was relatively mild. Might have gone worse after all these years.

I went to AH Ortho when I was newly injured, I must say although their doctor-patient attitude is good, the medication precribed is lacking. I was prescribed with general painkiller, that's all.

I went to my family GP and he prescribed anti inflammation pills and painkillers, both specifically for the joints.

Of course, it cost a bomb.... but I rather pay.

To all those who has responded,

Thanks for all the feedback and recommendation.

just to make sure u are fully aware, anti inflammation pills are not a cure. they're just a temporary relief. so make sure u seek proper medical advice. it may not seem like a big thing now, but when u get older next time, u dont want to be suffering from chronic back pain just because of an injury sustained when u were younger. ;)

U can try ATLAS Chiropractor at Capitol Building at 02-13 (unit # not sure).
1st consultation & physio abt $150. Subsequent visits (minus physio) at $70.

Thanks Peppercrab1!

Finally went to this GP who used to be a marathoner and have a deep vested interest in orthotics.

Spent almost an hour, with him examining my condition. Prescription was a pair of in-sole as the knee pain is due to imbalance of legs. Cost me $150 overall including consultation plus review.

Ex no doubt but so far so good...
