In this shot, I was trying to create a lonely, desolated feeling in the tunnel. The tunnel is delibrately underexposed to create the mood. The picture is delibrately made grainy for an additional gloomy touch. C&C please.

The tunnel leads out pretty soon to a scene with trees (or something) so it doesn't seem like a long journey out of it and thus not "lonely". The grain and underexposure paints the "darkness" in and the concentric ring patterns gives better depth than the floor, which seems flat. Anyway to take the shot further away with the exit much smaller? Maybe a fisheye lens can help though the distortion may not make it "lonely" anymore.

The picture feels like off-balanced. Slanted perhaps? Is this intentional?

Just some personal thoughts on creating that lonely/moody/long/dark kind of feel in this sort of shots... An extreme wide angle would suggest the end of the tunnel to be further away than it actually is... Messing around a little with your exposure settings can also help to achieve the mood. For example, darkening the end of the tunnel to the point that you cannot tell what lies beyond. Alternatively, overexposing to the point that all you can see is a bright "nothing" at the end, which also suggest some mystery at the end of the tunnel.

Fun things you can try... Go for a really low perspective shot. To exaggerate the height and size of the tunnel. Right now from this perspective that you took the shot, it's just another normal human being eye-level kind of view. Makes it a little boring don't you think?
