I found an interesting article while perusing DPreview. Apparently an old idea but not very widespread. Thought I'll share it here for those wanting more 'snap' in their photos. It certainly will be useful for me in the future.

Thanks for sharing. I found it rather useful. Doesn't work on all images, but when it does, the effect is pretty good.

I am glad it is of help to you sometimes.

My experience mirrors yours. It works great on some pics, but just make others look very unnatural. Anyway, its so easy to apply or discard, it's become part of my post-processing workflow.

Hi Francis,

Thanks for referring me to this article. It's a very good technique if u need to touch up a image taken at night and the object has colorful light shining on it and if the image is taken with a flahs. The USM technique if applied with increased 'Amount' tends to take away the artificial light effect.
