Liverpool Will Appoint Owen Coyle as New Manager On Sunday as Roy Hodgson Prepares for the Sack

Liverpool want Bolton boss Owen Coyle to replace Roy Hodgson, according to reports.

Stories claim the former Burnley manager has shot to the top of the Anfield shortlist after Marseille boss Didier Deschamps and former Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard ruled themselves out.

Coyle has won admirers for an attractive style of passing football at Bolton, where predecessors Sam Allardyce and Gary Megson were noted for the direct play.

Hodgson is believed to be expecting the sack after Sunday’s FA Cup third round tie at Manchester United and is even claimed to have made a farewell speech to players after their midweek defeat at Blackburn. (Daily Mirror)

Even if Owing Coyle comes onboard he is not the answer. He has to rebuild the team fr scratch and have to get rid of foreign talent. Get more local passionate players in then EPL will see a more terrifying LFC.

May be local talent not good enough so have to bring in more foreign talent. Sounds familiar? ;)

Our closet fan out in force !!!!

Go from RH to OC? Bad idea. RH couldn't handle the big players, unlike at Fulham the biggest name he had was like what, Brede Haangeland. Now, appointing OC, who has alot less experience, both in domestic and continental sense, I'm not really sure that would be the best of ideas.

LFC has always been in the doldrums :bsmilie:

In reality, RH was never the right person but then again, objectively speaking, how many better managers are willing to take up that challenge ?

Liverpool to sack Roy Hodgson after FA Cup tie with Manchester United

Roy Hodgson is expected to be sacked as Liverpool manager next week — even if the Merseysiders get a shock result at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The decision to replace Hodgson has already been taken, and it’s now only a matter of when the axe will fall on the 63-year-old former Fulham boss.

Yesterday’s press conference — when Hodgson was meant to talk about the FA Cup third-round tie with Manchester United — was cancelled and it’s believed Liverpool’s American owners, Fenway Sports Group, will meet with Hodgson after tomorrow’s game to deliver the bad news.

It is understood that Hodgson, who has been in charge of Liverpool for just over six months, will be replaced once FSG have identified an interim appointment.

Kenny Dalglish — the fans' choice to steady the sinking ship at Anfield — is expected to take that role, but will not be offered the job on a full-time basis.

Hodgson has presided over the club's worst start since the 1953-54 season — and defeat against Blackburn on Wednesday night was Liverpool's ninth loss in the Premier League this season, leaving the side languishing 12th in the table and just four points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool have drawn up a shortlist of managers to replace Hodgson which includes former Barcelona boss Frank Rijkaard and the little known ex-Hoffenheim chief Ralf Rangnick.
